JTB Home Quick Tip: Flat Pillows

Do your decorative pillows suffer from Flat Decorative Pillow Syndrome such as the pillow pictured above? Such a sad condition but at JTB Home Furniture + Décor, we have a quick tip for you!

Occasionally Pillows are compressed for shipping or lose their shape from extensive use. A quick way to revive and fluff them back into shape is to put them in your dryer for 10 – 15 minutes on a fluff cycle. Be sure to set your dryer to the NO HEAT setting as you don’t want your pillow inserts to explode!

There are two basic kinds of decorative pillow inserts: feather/down or Polyester fill. Within those two different types, there are many different combinations and materials…which is a longer blog post for another time! The dryer tip works great on feather/down fill inserts as well as polyester cluster fill inserts. See how nicely our flat pillow from above fluffed up?

This little tip may not work if your pillow insert is foam or consists of sheets of flat fiber fill. Oh, and by the way (our apologies for being pillow snobs), if you are using the “free” pillows that came with your couch, you need to run (not walk) to JTB Home Furniture + Décor for some new pillows.
